    Job Candidates

As new in-house positions develop, we post appropriate opportunities in the MCCA Job Bank Database to be searched by MCCA candidates. Results of matches do not guarantee an interview.

The interview process with corporations is often a much more protracted and unpredictable process for candidates. It is not uncommon for the process to take 3-4 months. When corporations are hiring for their legal departments, there is usually less pressure to hire immediately. Either the legal work which is prompting the decision to hire a new attorney will be handled by outside counsel or it will go unattended.

Corporations place more emphasis in hiring on the personal characteristics of candidates. Corporations are more concerned about how any candidate will fit in with the diverse group of business people with whom the candidate will be required to interact. At the end of the day, the final selection of a candidate will often be determined by an assessment of personal chemistry. A candidate may have the perfect paper credentials and substantive experience but fail to elicit an offer because the corporation perceives that the personal chemistry would not be right.
